MY FRIEND WHO WAS IN RECOVERY A LOT OF YEARS SENT ME THIS AND SAID
“I’m telling you all of this because I know that you can use this information to help others. “
I HAVE NEVER MET ANYONE WHO LEFT MEETING/ RECOVERY  WHO CAME BACK IN BETTER SHAPE
ARNIE
Dear Arnie,
I’m in the process of moving, and I’m going through all of my things, papers, etc.  I just ran across an e-mail between us shortly after I returned to gambling.  Actually, it was almost one year after . I re-read it, and I’d like you to see it again.  So, I’d like to mail it to you, for you to see again so I’d like a physical address that I can send it to.
It’s all positive on both of our parts.  You mention that you’d never try to push me to get back into G.A., and you never have, and I appreciate it.  Actually, it wouldn’t do any good anyway.  If I would be willing to go back, I would.  I know that many people would accept me with open arms, etc.
I wanted to let you know that I have NOT controlled myself, even though I keep telling myself that I am controlling it.  Things are the worst that that’ve ever been, and still, I do not want to quit.  I am totally broke, have lost everything that I had of value, and as of this very moment, I have no money to even last me for the next 3 weeks until I get my next Social Security check, which is the only income that I have.
What I am telling myself is:  That when I get the next check, I will pay whatever I need to pay to get by for next month, then gamble small with the rest, hoping to build it up.  I am still hoping to “make it big”.  Arnie, I know from my experience, that what I am hoping for is very slim, and yet, I still have that hope.
I’m telling you all of this because I know that you can use this information to help others.  Also, you’ve always wanted me to be honest with you, and to keep you informed as to my thoughts and feelings.
Anyway, that’s enough for now.  How are you and Sheila?   Tell her that I said hello.
Love,
WISH WE COULD DO SOMETING TO HELP HIM !   ARNIE
